Spring Ahead!
Daylight Savings Time Starts Sunday at 2 am !
Greetings!
This Sunday at 2 am Californians will
set the
clocks forward one hour to start daylight
savings time. This switch is several weeks
earlier than in past years because Congress
decided that more weeks of
daylight savings time would save energy and
oil. They moved the start of daylight savings
time up to March and its end back into
November.
See you Sunday on Daylight Savings Time.
(And, if you have a computer running
WindowsXP, visit
Microsoft for a free patch to let your
computer know the new DST rules!)
Do You Really Believe That?
Sunday, March11 at 11 am in the Sanctuary
service conducted by Rev. Gregory Stewart
The questions that children have about faith
and reason are often similar, if not the
same, as those of their adult counterparts.
Today we celebrate a rite of passage for the
third and fourth graders of the Society.
After six months of intensive study and
reflection, these budding scholars will ask a
panel of seasoned ministers and lay leaders
about the issues that concern them. Prepare
to be both enlightened and informed -- more by
the questions than the answers. Now that's
liberal religion!
Joining Rev. Stewart on the Chancel today
will be The Reverend Alyson Jacks,
Acting Director of Religious Education
Natalie Freeburg, seminarian Brian
Ferguson, Celebration leader Luanne
Schulte, and worship associate Joe
Chapot.
Helping Seniors in San Francisco
Forum Sunday 9:30 in the Martin Luther King Room
from Henry Kroll
Caroline Davidson, On Lok Senior Services,
and Linda Robertshaw,
Caring Committee, will share
information to make life better for many of
our elders, aging friends, and family members.
As we grow older in community our urban
issues of access to health care, housing,
transportation, and secure environments get
more and more challenging. On Lok Senior
Services, in partnership with the many other
organizations in San Francisco, has been
playing an increasingly important role in
linking the growing number of senior San
Franciscans with vital services helping them
remain in a better living environment.
Don't miss this important program
co-sponsored by the members of our
congregation's Caring Committee and The
Rev. Fred Rabidoux.
The program will start at 9:45. Come at 9:30
for conversation, coffee, and (for a slight
charge) a light breakfast.
Happy, happy, happy to know you!
from Natalie Freeburg, Acting Director of
Religious Education
Sunday eight Rite of Passage graduates will
be introduced through their kites and big
questions to the Congregation. This annual
ceremony has been a part of our community for
about 16 years. Come let the newest graduates
know that we are "happy, happy, happy to know
you"!

Get Your Red Hot Sermons
from Nancy Evans, Executive Director
Sunday sermons and services are available to
take home, share, and savor! At the
Bookwagon at the Coffee Hour there are:
- CD's of the current service (available
each week approximately 15 minutes after the
end of the service)
- CD's of past weeks' services
- Paper editions of the past sermon texts
Sonnie Willis' art photography like
the picture above graces the back cover of
recent sermons, too!
In addition to offering copies at coffee
hour, the Society posts online each week the
audio of the sermon and of the entire service. Check
out the online archives.
iTunes users and other podcast subscribers
can also
get sermons automagically downloaded to their
computers and players. Use this link to
subscribe to the podcasts through
iTunes (requires that iTunes software on your
home computer be already installed). And,
don't worry that iTunes has only old sermons
listed on their webpage. The current ones
will download when you've subscribed.
Or, copy the address below into your
computer's podcasting software (works with
iTunes and other podcast software):

Postal Service Savors Society's Newsletter
Reports of Non-Delivery of March Edition Show Letter Carrier Literacy
The church office has received reports that
March's newsletter has not yet arrived in
mailboxes. The edition was mailed on time,
and it was delivered with record speed to some
ZIP codes. The postal service workers in
other areas apparently are fascinated by the
content and have not yet passed along the
information.
Executive Director Nancy Evans wants
to know if you haven't yet received the March
newsletter in the mail. Send her a
quick email. And, members and
friends do not need to wait for hardcopy
delivery! You can read the entire newsletter
online by clicking below.
