Greetings!
The Bay to Breakers foot race will run
through San Francisco early Sunday morning.
In past years the moving block party has
passed beyond most major streets before
going-to-church time. However, check for
detour signs along your route during the week
and give yourself plenty of time.
Credos of Youth: Finding Faith
Sunday, May 20 at 11 am in the Sanctuary
service conducted by The Reverend Gregory Stewart
Think of it as a refresher course about
issues of ultimacy.
Do I believe in God? What is the meaning of
life? What happens to me when I die? How do
I find truth? Who am I?
Joining Rev. Stewart as respondents are some
of our most insightful prophets -- the youth
of our Coming of Age program. "If you are
like me," says Rev. Stewart, "you will want
to learn from them." Allison Rittger
will serve as the worship associate.
Following the service, there will be a brief
reception for Coming of Age youth in the
courtyard.
Special music will be provided by Collegium
Cantorum, a young adult choir from Uppsala,
Sweden (pictured below). They are not to be
missed!
Come hear a free concert at 10:30 (the
concert will require paid tickets that night
at Grace Cathedral!) The Collegium Cantorum
will sing 30 minutes of music prior to the
service in the Sanctuary.

Unitarian Universalist Society of San
Francisco for the important role you have

says Laurel.
Capital Campaign of the Heart
Share Your Community with Your Friends and Neighbors
from The Reverend Greg Stewart and Moderator
Linda Enger
Many of us say we were Unitarian
Universalists years before we knew that
Unitarian Universalism existed. "Why didn't
someone tell me sooner about this church?" we
ask.
How long did it take you to discover this
community of liberal spirituality? Was it
too long? Would you have enjoyed the
nurturing, support, and spiritual growth
sooner if you just knew a place like
this existed?
This Fall the congregations in the Bay Area
will conduct a professional marketing
awareness campaign which will invite your
friends and neighbors to learn more about
Unitarian Universalism. But, this outreach
can and will happen only if Unitarian
Universalists give our money to fund the
media advertising.
Please give generously to this campaign.
Some of us will give $1,000 or more. Many of
us will give over $100 to let others know
about our spiritual home. Please give what
you can by responding to the mail sent to
your home or by giving today -- NOW -- online.

Mother's Day Witnessing Draws Crowds and Media
The Congregation gathered on the church steps
Mother's Day morning to issue a 2007
Proclamation for Peace, a rekindling of the
original spirit of the holiday started in
1870 by Unitarian Julia Ward Howe.
Moderator Linda Enger, The Reverend
Greg Stewart, and MC Dolores Priem
were in the spotlight at the event which
included Gold Star Mother Karen Meredith,
Assemblyman Mark Leno, and peace makers
Camilo Mejia, Pablo Paredes, Sean O'Neill,
and Agustin Aguayo.
Media representatives from television, radio,
Internet, and the press covered the ceremony.
The Society's public stand for peace lead the
hourly local news reports on KCBS-740
Sunday
afternoon. Film coverage was aired Sunday
night on KTVU
(Channel 2) and on KGO
(Channel 7), and the
Chronicle
printed a story on page B-1 Monday. (The
links in this article are to posted clips of
the media coverage. Some of the actual
reports were more extensive and highlighted
Reverend Stewart, Arthur Stewart, and
others in the church community.)
Jonathan Silk recorded the audio of
the public witnessing. He edited the tape,
cleaned up the sound, and has posted it online.
