Don't Just Do Something, Sit There!
Sunday, June 10 at 11 am in the Sanctuary
service conducted by The Reverend Gregory Stewart

Summer has the reputation for being the season of the s-l-o-w retreat from the routines that rule our personal and professional worlds. I say, "Fat chance."

For many of us, it is a time of transition that creates its own stressors. School is out; chaos is in.

There are planes to catch and road trips to endure. Relatives arrive and sanity departs.

We strive to rest and tire of trying. Yes, vacations are exhausting.

Drawing on Buddhist wisdom and personal experience, I will explore religious responses to transition that are applicable to any season of the heart, not to mention the calendar.

We will welcome as guest musicians members of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus who will sing their own repertoire in advance of an upcoming concert.

Violence in Iraq?, Violence on our Streets?
Forum Sunday 9:30 in the Martin Luther King Room
from Henry Kroll

Like most urban areas in recent years San Francisco's Tenderloin and Western Addition have seen increasing levels of gun violence and murders.

Besides working for peace in Iraq and ending war, can Unitarian Universalists help create a more peaceful environment on the city streets that comprise our community in San Francisco?

Alex Darr, lifelong Member of the Society and a lay minister with the Faithful Fools, will present the case showing how our congregation can help bring needed change.

The program will start at 9:45. Come at 9:30 for conversation, coffee, and (for a slight charge) a light breakfast.

Congratulations to Paulett Taggart on her election as a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects at the organization's national convention in San Antonio. Only seven San Francisco architects were so honored. It's nice to see Paulett recognized for being at the top of her profession!

the deadfrom Delores Perez Priem

After the worship service on Sunday, May 27th -- Memorial Day Weekend -- Congregation members took turns reading the names of US troops killed in Iraq and the names of Iraqi civilians who have perished in the war. The reading took place before the pictures of a few of the fallen in our gallery.

This moving tribute to memorialize the casualties of the war and occupation of Iraq will be continued at upcoming Sunday worship services and at other venues.
