Turn Back but Come to Church!
Dear Galen,
Standard time will start at 2 am Sunday
morning.
Turn your clocks back 1 hour before going
to bed Saturday night.
You're welcome to get to church early on

know what time it!
The Lightning that Preceded It
Sunday, November 4 at 11 am in the Church Sanctuary
service conducted by Jeremy Nickel,
Ministerial Intern
Many of us want to make a change in our life,
but few of us know how to go about doing it.
Ministerial Intern Jeremy Nickel will offer
his views on this topic and share a
surprising strategy for how to bring about
change in your life.
Joining Jeremy on the Chancel will be
Branduin Straub and Affiliated
Community Minister Rev. Alyson Jacks.
The 2007 Rheiner Award for Community Service
will be presented during the service by
Bob Bacon. Named for Rev. Conard
Rheiner, the honor acknowledges a Member of
the Society whose life has shown commitment,
leadership, significant accomplishments, and
meaningful involvement with our Unitarian
Universalist principles.
Each year the award recognizes an unsung
advocate, who practices humanitarian
principles on a daily basis within the church
and the greater community.
The congregation is invited to join in a
reception for the award winner in the Martin
Luther King Room after the service.

has had that have led her to the stance that the
Vice-President Chaney and President Bush must
be impeached.
The free program will start at 9:45. Come at 9:30
for conversation, coffee, and (for a slight
charge) a light breakfast.
Religious Education Starts a Month of Gratitude
from Betty Skwarek, Acting Director of
Religious Education
Children and Youth in Religious Education
classes will focus on "gratitude" in
November. Students will create gratitude
projects which they can bring home and share
with their families at the end of the month.
The Preschool group's lessons will be
based on two stories from Frog and Toad
Are Friends by Arnold Lobel, "A Lost
Button" and "The Letter." In both of these
stories Frog helps Toad with a problem.
Besides creating gratitude books, the
children will use drama to deepen their
understanding of the stories, and work on
related activities.
Elementary age children will create a
gratitude box in chapel which will be part of
their increased role in chapel ritual. They
will learn the song, "From You I Receive,"
and create their own adaptation of Rev. Max
Coot's "Garden Meditation." Lessons will
include the story about the Universalist
minister John Murray and creation stories
that have been used through the ages to
explain the world and universe.
Junior youth will work towards
self-governance through a UNICEF program from
the UK, "Discussing Global Issues; what is
Participation?" They will also work on
journals and develop some of their own rituals.
Senior youth will write a group
covenant which will include the rights and
responsibilities of members of the group.
They will also work on spiritual practice as
individuals and as a group. .
The parent group meets regularly at
10:00 Sundays in the Fireside room. While
parents talk, children
up to age 5 are welcome in the nursery and
old children and youth can join the youth
choir in the Chapel or the art class in the
Art room.
New students are welcome throughout the year,
and parents are invited to phone Acting
Director of Religious Education Betty Skwarek
at 776-4580 for more information.
