The ability to live, breathe and work in an environment of
good preaching, good music, and an active social justice program were
also what caused Greg to seek the position as The First Unitarian
Universalist Society of San Francisco's Executive Director.
Greg's church administration background most recently involved
serving St. Peter's By The Sea, an 1100 member Presbyterian congregation in Rancho Palos Verdes,
as Church Administrator where he was instrumental in the formulation of
and the follow through construction of a $1 million dollar capital
program to provide nursery/toddler facilities and enhance the Choir
Room. The capital drive exceed it's goal by $135,000, the three-year
pledge payments are running ahead of schedule, and the construction will
be completed before Greg departs for San Francisco.
During his tenure at St. Peter's the Finance office
converted to a new church based accounting system, new personnel
policies and benefits were implemented, a faith-based stewardship
program was enhanced and the offerings increased, and the congregation
embarked on an extensive Endowment program with a goal of obtaining an
additional $5 million of planned gifts.
"I have over 35 years of professional city management experience
including 10 years of urban redevelopment advocacy and a second career
of church management involving two different congregations," Greg
said during his interviews. "First UU is the crown jewel of the UUA
west of the Rockies and is now prepared to embark on a new level of
governance designed to enhance its mission. I want to be a part of
that."
On the personal side, Greg was listed in the 1996-1997 Who's Who In
The West. He has Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Public
Administration from Cal State University, Los Angeles, is a graduate of
MIT's Urban Management program, completed certification from the School
of Theology at University of the South in Lay Ministry and is a founding
graduate of Cal State University Long Beach's Non-Profit Fundraising
certification program.
Greg, now divorced, was married for 20 years and is the father of two
daughters: the oldest, Kathryn is a prosecuting attorney for the
District Counsel, IRS office in Laguna Niegel; his youngest daughter,
Charla, graduated from UC Davis and has just concluded work as the Davis
Chamber of Commerce Membership and Marketing Coordinator. She and her
five cats are now journeying to Connecticut to explore new options.
Greg enjoys singing and was a member of the Long Beach South Coast
Chorale, a gay & lesbian chorus, and was a volunteer career

free time he enjoys hiking and swimming. and vacationing anywhere along
